ID - digilib58872 UR - https://digilib.uin-suka.ac.id/id/eprint/58872/ A1 - Putri Wijayanti, NIM.: 21204031016 Y1 - 2023/03/27/ N2 - Interest in reading in children is very important to instill and continue to improve from an early age, judging by the low interest in reading in Indonesia, it is necessary to have strategies or methods that are given to children because growing interest in reading in children is far more important than children who read fast. Through literacy extracurricular activities in order to increase children's interest in reading, so that children can add vocabulary, recognize letters, recognize letters, facilitate children in speaking and also prepare or equip children for a higher level. This research method uses a qualitative research type case study approach. The subjects of this study were school principals, class teachers, and the objects in this study were class B1 TK Aisyiyah 20 Pajang. Data collection techniques using the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. Test the validity of the data using source and technique triangulation. Data analysis went through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions The results of the study showed: First, extracurricular literacy can grow and increase interest in reading in children so that children can increase vocabulary, children know letters and numbers, children become fluent in speaking and become a provision for children to go to a higher level. Second , strategies that can increase children's interest in reading through literacy extracurricular activities, namely; preparation of facilities and infrastructure, conveying learning objectives, determining learning procedures, evaluating, meeting children's needs for reading standards, the act of looking for reading books carried out by children, children's interest in reading books, and carrying out writing, reading, speaking and listening activities. Third, the supporting factors in extracurricular activities are that Aisyiyah Kindergarten has teaching staff based on PAUD graduates, there is a library room and reading corner and also the availability of learning media that can support children for literacy extracurricular activities. As for the inhibiting factors, there are a few media such as pop-up books, busy books, bilingual books and puzzles, teacher creativity needs to be increased and there are still some children who arrive late.
