N2  - Purbalingga is one of the regencies in Central Java which has 9,581 people with
disabilities. The welfare of persons with disabilities is a major need that is often
neglected in the society and the government. The role of social institutions in
assisting empowerment is urgently needed, especially for people with disabilities
who in the category of vulnerable groups. The presence of the role of the Pilar
Foundation (Yayasan Pilar) in Purbalingga Regency in empowering people with
disabilities is able to provide independence and well-being for people with
disabilities
The Assessment Stage, Planning Stage, Implementation Stage, Evaluation Stage,
and Termination Stage which were carried out in the Pilar Foundation
empowerment process are indicators of the institution's role in empowering people
with disabilities. The existence of an empowerment program within the Pilar
Foundation has a socio-economic impact on empowered disabilities. The sociocultural
impact that arises after the empowerment takes place makes people with
disabilities better.
The results of the research looking at the facts of empowerment carried out by the
Pilar Foundation strengthen the evidence that people with disabilities have
become empowered. This is proven by the systematic implementation of stages of
empowerment that have been passed and increased welfare, social participation
and growing the level of confidence of people with disabilities.
