description: The background of the problem in this study is that at the age of just entering adolescence, the ability to control their emotions is still lacking because the low ability of adolescents to control emotions sometimes leads to negative behavior such as smoking, drinking, using drugs, free sex. Moreover, teenagers who have a dual role, namely teenagers who are in school with a lot of pressure faced to balance non-academic abilities. So a forum is needed to facilitate students/adolescents in regulating their emotions properly. Group guidance is an alternative that can be done to help these students/adolescents recognize their emotions. This study aims to identify, describe and analyze the process of group guidance steps to improve emotional regulation of class XI MAN 2 Yogyakarta students.  This research is descriptive in nature with a qualitative approach to the research subject of guidance and counseling teachers, as well as five students of class XI MAN 2 Yogyakarta. While the object of this research is the process of group guidance steps to improve the emotional regulation of class XI MAN 2 Yogyakarta students. Collecting data using observation, interviews, documentation. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive qualitative.  The results of this study are that there are four process steps of group guidance carried out in increasing student emotional regulation, namely the formation step, the transition step, the activity implementation step and the termination step.
