abstract: Critical thinking skills are a directed and clear process used in mental activities
such as problem solving, making decisions, referring, analyzing assumptions and
conducting scientific research. This study aims to analyze the critical thinking
skills of students on the concept of waves in class XII MIPA MAN 1 Yogyakarta.
This type of research is quantitative research with a descriptive approach.
Quantitative method using critical thinking skills test instrument. The data
collection instrument used is a written test in the form of multiple choice. Data
analysis in this study used data analysis of critical thinking skills from Ennis.
Based on research conducted at MAN 1 Yogyakarta, it is known that the critical
thinking skills of XII MIPA 1 class students have critical thinking skills with a
percentage of 60% in the moderate category, XII MIPA 2 class is also in the
moderate category with a percentage of 67.6%, the percentage of XII MIPA 3
class of 60.2% is in the moderate category, and the percentage of XII MIPA 4
class of 65.6% is in the moderate category. Then the total average of critical
thinking skills in class XII MIPA obtained a percentage of 63.35% with the
percentage of each indicator Elementary Clarification (69%), Basic Support
(63%), Inference (87%), Advance Clarification (29%), and Strategy and Tactics
(63%), so that it is in the category of critical thinking skills percentage between
60% - 69% which is quite critical / moderate.
