N2  - Religious life constitutes a crucial aspect of societal dynamics, particularly within the Indonesian context. To mitigate interfaith conflicts, the cultivation of values promoting religious moderation within various societal spheres becomes imperative. The film "Merindu Cahaya De Amstel" encapsulates codes that symbolize the essence of religious moderation. Hence, the objective of this research is to discern the representation of religious moderation in the film "Merindu Cahaya De Amstel" by employing John Fiske's Semiotic Analysis.
This study adopts a qualitative methodology underpinned by a descriptive analytical approach. Data collection encompasses observation and documentation, followed by an analysis guided by John Fiske's semiotic framework, encompassing levels of reality, representation, and ideology, as applied to the film "Merindu Cahaya De Amstel."
The outcomes of this research unveil the presence of normative foundations of religious moderation within the film "Merindu Cahaya De Amstel." These include values such as "Tasamuh" (tolerance), "Asy-Syura" (consultation), "Al-Islah" (reform), "Al-Qudwah" (leadership), and "Al-La'urf" (anti-extremism).
