        abstract = {Social media in an institution becomes a medium of
communication to introduce the institution and build the
image of the institution in society. The same thing is being
done by Islamic educational institutions in South
Kalimantan, namely the Darul Hijrah Putri Islamic
Boarding School. Even though the location of this Islamic
boarding school is far from the city center. But the existence
of this Islamic boarding school is still felt today. With this
background, the author has an interest in researching how
communication management is carried out by the Darul
Hijrah Putri Islamic Boarding School in building image
through social media.
In this study, the authors used a qualitative
descriptive research method by combining the concept of
communication management with the management theory
approach by George R. Terry namely Planning,
Organizing, Actuating, Controlling. This research data
collection method is in-depth interviews, observation and
documentation. The results of this study are that there are
several stages of communication management that have
been carried out properly but there are still
implementations of communication management that have
not been carried out optimally. Social media is also quite
effective as an intermediary for Islamic boarding schools in
building a good institutional image}
