description: Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) is a common social phenomenon among university students in the digital era, including the members of PERHUMAS Muda Yogyakarta. It is characterized by the need to stay connected and the fear of being  left behind by their peers. This research aims to analyze the driving factors behind  FoMO behavior in individuals using the Self-Determination Theory (SDT) as a  motivational framework. The participants in this study are students who are part of the PERHUMAS Muda Yogyakarta organization, specifically from the 2023  cohort. The research adopts a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, and data collection involves primary data through observations and  interviews, as well as secondary data through documentation. The findings of this study reveal that FoMO among the members of PERHUMAS Muda Yogyakarta is  driven by their desire for achievement, competence development, and  appreciation. Their aspirations and potentials, supported by the productive environment surrounding them, contribute to their motivation to establish new social connections, thus resulting in a high level of internet usage.
