Si., M.Sc abstract: In the historical development of Islamic civilization, several groups emerged to address the political issues faced by Muslims during the time after the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Harun Nasution is one of the rationalist thinkers who brings deeper and philosophical theological issues, which provides analyses and comparisons related to the comparison between human freedom and God's absolute will which causes a dialectic in the concept of cosmology. This research aims to describe how the dialectic concept of cosmology in Harun Nasution's book Islamic Theology. This research is a literature study with a content analysis research model and documentary research method with the primary source of the book Islamic Theology: Historical Schools, Comparative Analysis in 1986, written by Harun Nasution. The result of this research is that the problems that arise result in conflicts that trigger debates about the concept of cosmology, which focuses on balance and harmony in the layout of the universe. God controls the universe through the sunnatullah that He created, and this sunnatullah does not change. The concept of God's absolute will is therefore irrelevant, in accordance with the teachings of Mu'tazilah theology. On the other hand, this viewpoint rejects the idea of fixed natural laws or sunnatullah. Within the framework of the traditional theological view, all of nature, including human beings, moves and develops according to God's absolute will, and is not bound by any particular rules, so there is no fixed order in nature. Therefore, the dominant attribute in the understanding of God is His absolute will, in line with the teachings of Asy'ariyah theology. date: 2023-08-15 date_type: published pages: 81 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS ILMU TARBIYAH DAN KEGURUAN thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Asyifa’ul Fadliyah Ismawati, NIM.: 16690050 (2023) DIALEKTIKA KONSEP KOSMOLOGI DALAM BUKU TEOLOGI ISLAM HARUN NASUTION.
