Weak national character causes educational institutions to continue to make changes in order to achieve a positive national character. Thus, it is necessary to describe how the efforts made by schools to improve student character education, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors for strengthening student character education at SMA Negeri 1 Kepenuhan. This research is a qualitative research with a case study type. There were 14 informants in this study, namely the Principal, Deputy Head of School for Curriculum, Student Affairs, Facilities and Public Relations, Student Affairs Staff, Counseling Teachers, PAI Teachers, PKN Teachers, and five Class XII students. Data collection by interview, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques with transcripts, coding, grouping, comparison and contrast, and interpretation. Data validity technique with source triangulation and technique triangulation. The research results show that: First, strengthening student character education is carried out by integrating learning, providing character values, namely; (1) Religion through congregational prayers, spiritual Friday activities, tausiah, as well as competitions or religious activities. (2) Nationalists with ceremonial activities, integration of Riau Malay cultural subjects, various performance activities or competitions, art performances, scouting extracurriculars. (3) Integrity with various self-development activities. (4) Independent with independent learning such as practice, presentation and individual activities. (5) Mutual cooperation with study group methods, picket programs, annual programs, social care activities. As well as working with the community through outreach activities and seminars. Second, the managerial creativity of school principals in strengthening educational character, namely: (1) fluency of thinking with teacher coaching and training activities, curriculum alignment, empowering infrastructure and making various programs (2) flexibility of thinking, namely setting rules and punishments, responding to changes and maintaining program, involving other parties in student character education (3) elaboration, namely developing programs with division of responsibilities, monitoring program implementation (4) originality, namely supervising classes, forming a special team to strengthen character education. The three supporting factors for strengthening the educational character of students are good cooperation among educators, infrastructure and a conducive school environment.
