abstract: Drug abuse is a national threat that is of particular concern, both from a micro (family) and macro (national) perspective. However, in terms of the type of substance, drug addiction is a mental and behavioral illness that has an impact on the mental state of the person concerned and raises various social problems to crime.
There are two objectives of this study, namely as follows: (1) to describe how to foster drug addict youth in the rehabilitation of the Ar-Rahman Islamic boarding school in Palembang. (2) describe what are the supporting and inhibiting factors for the development of drug addict youth in the rehabilitation of the Ar-Rahman Islamic boarding school in Palembang. This type of research is qualitative research with a case study model. Methods of data collection using observation, interviews, and documentation. For data analysis techniques using three techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. While the data validation technique uses the source triangulation technique and technical triangulation.
The results of this study indicate that (1) the development of drug addict youth in the rehabilitation of the Ar-Rahman Islamic boarding school Palembang consists of four programs, namely, first, program orientation which is carried out for 14 days. Second, the primary program is carried out for 90 days. Third, the re-entry program is carried out for 40 days. Fourth, the school program is a program specifically for clients who are still students. (2) Supporting and inhibiting factors for the development of drug addicts in the rehabilitation of the Ar-Rahman Islamic boarding school in Palembang. The supporting factors are as follows: first, many clients come from South Sumatra. Second, there is a rehabilitation program for women. Third, cooperate with social institutions. Fourth, is the only rehabilitation in South Sumatra. Fifth, complete facilities. Sixth, supported by local government. While the inhibiting factors consist of two factors, namely internal factors, (originating from within rehabilitation) the severe condition of addicts and external factors (originating from outside rehabilitation) the lack of enthusiasm of the community towards awareness of the importance of rehabilitation
