So the focus of this research is to find out and analyze what are the professional competencies of PAI teachers after certification and how the efforts of PAI teachers in developing their professional competencies after certification in State Junior High Schools in Danurejan Yogyakarta. The locus of this research is SMP Negeri 4 Yogyakarta and SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta with qualitative field research methods. Data collection in this study used observation methods, including observation of the school environment and learning process. In-depth interviews and school administration documentation such as lesson plans, vision, mission, goals and organizational structure and learning activities. After all the data were found, the data were processed with qualitative analysis. The data validity technique uses data triangulation. After conducting the research, the author obtained the results of the study that 1) The professional competence of post-certification PAI teachers in State Junior High Schools in Danurejan Yogyakarta is quite satisfactory and in accordance with the criteria of professional teachers as expected, seen from the teacher's readiness before the teaching process and during the learning process such as the teacher is able to manage the class, master the teaching material, 2) the development of professional competence of PAI teachers after certification is done by analyzing the needs of students during classroom learning, by participating in subject teacher meetings (MGMP), training, seminars, further study of strata 2, and utilization of journals in order to improve their competence.
