"This study aims to analyze and describe the culture of information access\r\namong the Orang Rimba Makekal Hulu in the Bukit Dua Belas National Park,\r\nJambi Province. It focuses on understanding the information needs, identifying the\r\nobstacles encountered, and exploring the efforts made to access information. The\r\nresearch employed a qualitative case study approach, with purposive sampling as\r\nthe sampling technique. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured\r\ninterviews, and document analysis. To ensure data validity, source triangulation,\r\ndata collection technique triangulation, and time triangulation were employed.\r\nThe results of this study are (1) The Culture of Access to Information among\r\nthe Orang Rimba is still upheld based on local wisdom, which is includes practices\r\nlike besesaluang, nonggo benar, gussets, natural signs, clues, and fairy tales.\r\nHowever, the Orang Rimba have also adapted their information access to modern\r\ntechnology, such as using mobile phones as a means of accessing information.\r\nThere are taboos, rules, or norms within the forest community regarding\r\ninformation access. (2) The information needed by the Orang Rimba related to the\r\neconomy, including prices of palm oil, rattan, and other plantation products, as\r\nwell as health-related information. (3) There are various obstacles in obtaining\r\ninformation within the forest. These include geographical challenges due to poor\r\nand distant access roads, lack of cellphone signal, absence of electricity, and\r\ndisturbance from machines near the forest edge. Other obstacles may come from\r\nthe individual themselves or from individuals responsible for conveying\r\ninformation. To overcome these obstacles KMB (United Makekal Group) play a\r\ncrucial role in accessing information as a mediator, in addition to strengthening\r\ncorporation with various parties such including collaboration with the Sokola\r\nInstitute for educational purposes, partnering with the Health Office/Pukesamas to\r\naddress health-related issues, and collaborating with local NGOs and other\r\norganizational networks in Jambi that support the access of the Orang Rimba to\r\ninformation. Within the Rimba itself, the Traditional Leader and other officials have\r\na significant role in regulating information access. They enforce rules based on\r\nOrang Rimba traditional verses and implement sanctions, including fines and\r\nsanctions from the Orang Rimba gods."^^ . "2023-07-17" . . . .
