"In reality, the most serious challenge in interfaith life today is how a religious\r\nperson can properly define himself in the midst of other people's religions. Interreligious\r\ninteraction is now increasingly showing its intensity. So it is not surprising\r\nthat many people view the current era as a \"new age\" (New Age), which characterizes\r\nthe rapid human attention to the spiritual world. Indonesia is actually very rich in\r\nexperiences related to diversity. At its peak, there was a time when diversity was a\r\nsource of collective pride. On the other hand, there are also times when diversity\r\nbecomes a disaster. The second experience tends to bring dilemmas to people in their\r\nlives, leading to intolerant practices. This certainly cannot be solved only through the\r\nsocialization of religious moderation as often campaigned by the government through\r\nthe Ministry of Religious Affairs. Religious moderation should be an indispensable\r\ntrait that is inherent in each individual. The implementation of religious moderation\r\nshould also lead to the scope of respect, understanding, and cooperation between\r\nfollowers of different religions as Schoun said. In this way, religious moderation\r\nhelps to avoid conflict, promote tolerance, and build interfaith harmony. The method\r\nused in this research is a qualitative method with a library research approach.\r\nThe results of this study indicate that the substance of Frithjof Schoun's\r\nthinking about religious moderation is that according to him, although on the surface\r\nreligions are different, but in essence all religions have something in common.\r\nSchoun's belief departs from his view that all religions have a reality or essence,\r\nnamely exoteric and esoteric. The exoteric nature is the external nature, where at this\r\nlevel all religions have dogmas that undoubtedly include different and even\r\nconflicting laws, rituals and beliefs. But faced with the esoteric nature of the religion,\r\nnamely the inner nature, all religions with their differences and contradictions finally\r\nmeet.
