N2  - English language learning has been taught from elementary to senior high school, and the learning process includes language introduction to practice writing in English. However, in practice, there are still many students who make mistakes in grammar. The government has carried out various efforts in education with various curriculum model replacements; the latest is Curriculum 13 or K-13. The purpose of this research is to see the students' writing ability in English. Therefore, this study focuses on error analysis related to English grammar by taking a sample of 10% of each class randomly data from the third-grade population, so there are twenty-two students at MAN 3 Bantul as an sample of object research. The research theory used is based on Dulay et al. (1982) the surface strategy taxonomy and Brown's (2001) source of error. This type of research uses the descriptive qualitative method. The form of data is taken by using the documentation technique. The data obtained were 421 errors with the division of omission categories as much as 32%, addition 14%, misformation 213%, and misordering 3%. This data shows that misformation is a form of the dominant error made by students, and the in-depth learning process regarding the introduction of language structures that have been carried out by students so far is still lacking, so it is hoped that this can be an effort for teachers to put more emphasis on the learning process to the linguistic structure in English.
