Marfuah Sri Sanityastuti, M.Si. abstract: Basically, dating couples aim to foster a loving relationship, based on effective communication, trust, and the ability to make each other happy. However, in teenage relationships, there are often emotional shifts that result in unpredictable behavior. This study analyzes how Toxic Relationship communication behavior of dating couples in Samarinda and why someone stays in a Toxic Relationship. The type of research used in this study is qualitative research where data is collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained from the research was analyzed using a phenomenological study approach. By analyzing data that is specific then conclusions can be drawn relating to the communication behavior of Toxic Relationship dating couples in Samarinda. From this research it can be concluded how Toxic Relationship communication behavior through verbal communication theory relating to the use of language and harsh words in relationships, as well as nonverbal communication behavior how body language, signs, actions, and objects describe Toxic Relationship communication behavior. With Toxic communication behavior the reason a person still maintains his relationship is based on social exchange theory with two assumptions of the nature of the relationship, namely the relationship has a dependent nature and the life of the relationship is a process.
