        abstract = {This reasearh aim is to analyze disaster communication management as mitigation of Mount Merapi eruption in the sister village program of BPBD Magelang Regency. The eruption of Mount Merapi in 2010 showed the lack of disaster communication management, panic in the process of evacuating residents to the discomfort of refugees in refugee camps became a problem at that time. Based on the background of the problem, This research uses qualitative research method. In collecting data, researchers used interview, observation and documentation methods. This research uses the theory put forward by Cutlip \& Center which explains that the management process has four stages, namely defining public problems, planning and programming, taking action and communication, and evaluating the program. The results showed that BPBD Magelang Regency in the context of mitigating the eruption of Mount Merapi in the sister village program has used good communication management, where each part starting from the initial stage of mitigation, planning, response and recovery has gone through the steps of disaster communication management.}
