M.Ag. abstract: The independent learning curriculum is a curriculum with diverse intracurricular learning, the content will be more optimal so that students have enough time to deepen concepts and strengthen competencies. This research is based on the author's curiosity regarding the implementation of the independent learning curriculum in the 8th grade Fiqh subject at Muhammadiyah Al Mujahidin Middle School, Gunungkidul. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, Technology and Higher Education published the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum with the hope that all schools can implement it, however, in 2022, since the Merdeka Belajar curriculum was published, not all schools in Yogyakarta will implement the curriculum. Muhammadiyah Al Mujahidin Middle School is one of the schools that has successfully implemented the Independent Learning Curriculum. What is unique about this school is that even though it has the status of a Junior High School (SMP), there are Fiqh subjects taught to students. Generally, Fiqh subjects are not taught in junior high schools but are taught in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs). The focus of this research is to analyze the reasons for implementing the free learning curriculum in class 8 Fiqh subjects, the Curriculum Model in class 8 Fiqh subjects, Implementation of the free learning curriculum in class 8 Fiqh subjects. This research uses a qualitative type of research using a field study approach. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. Checking the validity of the data uses triangulation, while data analysis techniques use data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that: 1) The background to the implementation of the independent learning curriculum in the 8th grade Fiqh subject is because the school was chosen to be the driving school and implemented the independent learning curriculum. 2) The curriculum model used in class 8 Fiqh learning is an independent learning curriculum with a process and product differentiated learning approach model. 3) The implementation of the independent learning curriculum in Fiqh subjects cannot be separated from three things, namely, planning, implementation, evaluation. The evaluation of Fiqh learning at Muhammadiyah Al Mujahidin Middle School refers to the independent learning curriculum including: Diagnostic assessment, formative assessment, summative assessment, and final summative assessment.
