The research was conducted at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University Library with a population of 18 librarians. Hypothesis used is that effective communication has a positive and significant influence on the performance of librarians. Variable used is effective communication variables (independent variables) and performance variables librarian (dependent variable). The research surveys with quantitative causal associative approach. Collecting data employed documentary techniques, interviews, observation, and questionnaires. Analysis method used is a simple linear regression. Data were processed using SPSS version 15 for windows. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive and significant influence of effective communication towards the performance of librarians, with the rule if the sign marked positive correlation coefficient and sufficient means positive and significant. It can be seen from the calculation of correlation coefficient equal to 0.569 and the hypothesis test results obtained t count (4.595){\ensuremath{>}} t table (2.120), with the provisions of the t count {\ensuremath{>}} t table, then the hypothesis states there is a positive and significant influence of accepted and proven. From the regression results can be seen that effective communication affect the performance of librarians at 56.9\%, while 43.1\% were influenced by other factors not examined by the authors. Seeing the importance of effective communication, communication skills training should be held to support and improve librarian performance.} }
