description: The community of Ayo Cinta Masjid (ACM) of Metro City is a young muslim religious movement combining popular ways of preaching. Post-Islamism in the context of this study is a concept introduced by Asef Bayat as he was analyzing political development in Iran. Initially meant to settle a new Islamic country, post-Islamism concept recently focuses on social piety encouragement for the young adults – individually and collectively. Through ethnographic research, this study aims to describe the Islamic expressions and new interests as a post-Islamism trend for muslim young adults. The study yields some points. (1) The ACM community is sorting positive values of local society’s life and put them into a blend of religious expressions and popular global trend. (2) Beginning from the business of a town muslim discourse, a new interest in Islamic books emerges. The community is also interested in social piety practices and in religion and lust-for-life harmony (e.g. ACM sports and ACM ukhti fashion). (3) The Islamic expressions and a new interest in religion practices – shown as being more polite and cooler when performing Islamic sharia in public – represent a new trend in the world of Islam named post-Islamism. And such movement has hit religion-symbol economic realm, such as muslim clothes, motto and jargons, life motivation and other commodities. The study’s main argument is that the emergence of identity hybridization of young muslim within ACM community occurs in the hybrid dakwah and the Islamic expressions through popular products like fancy clothes, Islamic books and magazines, films and halal cosmetics. Being a trend setter, the young does not adopt city lifestyle entirely; instead, lifestyle is accommodated with some adjustment to suit local ‘appropriateness’. In most occurrences ACM community appears to be a modern young muslim who upholds Islamic values – their way of life.
