The science learning model used needs to be more varied, thus affecting the personality and critical thinking skills of students. This is evident in the learning process; students may hesitate to ask questions about material they have yet to understand fully. Upon initial observation at MI Ma'arif Bego, it has been noted that the mid-term results of fifth-grade students, particularly in science, fall below the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). Out of 33 students, only 40% have met the KKM threshold of 75. Students require guidance in tackling evaluation and examination questions, especially those that demand advanced critical thinking skills. This study aimed to, determine the influence of the self directed learning model on personality on science learning of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students, analyze the effect of the self directed learning model on critical thinking skills in science learning of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students. This study uses a quantitative approach with the type of research Experimental design, nonequivalent control group design. The population of this research was all fifth-grade students, with class B and C students as the sample. The data collection techniques used are questionnaires, tests, and observations. Data analysis was carried out using an independent sample t-test. According to the study's findings, implementing the self directed learning model in science education has two primary outcomes. (1) It impacts students' personalities, as demonstrated by the independent sample t-test conducted on the personality experiment class. The students in the experimental class exhibited a significant difference compared to the control class, with a significance value of 0.000, indicating a considerable average difference between the two groups. (2) The self directed learning model positively affects students' critical thinking abilities. The independent sample t-test also revealed an average difference between the experimental and control classes, with a significance value 0.000, indicating a significant impact. %K self directed learning; personality; critical thinking skills %D 2024 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib64710
