abstract: Gembong Reservoir, which was originally a stretch of water and forest, has become a tourist destination thanks to the hard work of Karang Taruna Dukuh Seloromo. The Gembong Reservoir's cleaning and tourism development is carried out by Karang Taruna Dukuh Seloromo. The purpose of this research is to explain the role of youth organizations in making Gembong Reservoir, a tourist destination that is still crowded with visitors today. With the success of Karang Taruna in managing Gembong Reservoir Tourism, this research aims to see what roles are played, and the challenges faced by Karang Taruna in developing Gembong Reservoir Tourism.
This research uses qualitative methods to explain the role and challenges of youth organizations in improving Gembong Reservoir Tourism. Data collection involves observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involves the collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion of data.
The results of this research show that there are four roles used by youth organizations in improving Gembong Reservoir Tourism: the first is the role of educator, namely being a mediator and representative in all conditions; and the fourth is the role of technical skills, namely youth organizations, providing ideas and innovations in modern sales places. In carrying out their duties, the youth organization plays more of an educational role because they often provide education to residents in all activities that will be carried out in efforts to develop Gembong Reservoir Tourism. The results of this research also explain that there are five challenges for youth organizations: lack of relationship with society, late development of science, very traditional community attitudes, prejudice towards new or foreign things (closed attitude), and natural condition factors.
