N2  - In the current digital era, film has become a mass communication channel used to depict social life by highlighting stories based on social issues. One of them is the film ?Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash?, which raises the issue of masculinity in Indonesia. Researchers want to analyze the representation of Toxic Masculinity in the film ?Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash? using Roland Barthes' Semiotic analysis. In analyzing the film's representation, researchers used Stuart Hall's theory of representation to give deeper meaning to a social phenomenon. In this research, to seek validity, we used a theoretical triangulation process to strengthen the research.
Based on the results of Rolland Barthes' semiotic analysis of scenes in films such as ?Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash?, researchers obtained 6 film scenes that depict toxic masculinity from the attitude of someone who shows proactive, superior and aggressive actions. Representations of toxic masculinity are depicted through men who express anger, courage, and aggressively to gain honor and tend to commit sexual violence. The results of the research show that it describes a culture that still occurs in current social phenomena but has begun to be able to 'negotiate' to achieve masculinity in a positive direction.
