N2  - The success of a program in an educational institution in achieving its objectives cannot be separated from a mature management and risk management role. Risks can arise from both external and internal sides. As in this research on the International Field Study activity, risks arising from external sources are related to immigration, both from communication and policy, while risks arising from internal sources are related to the condition of students/participants and supervising lecturers of the activity. Therefore, with effective and efficient risk management, the program can provide meaningful and safe learning experiences for students/participants, enhance the reputation of the institution, and support the achievement of quality and globally competitive higher education objectives. Therefore, this study aims to find out how the application of management functions, find out what risky conditions occur and find out how the Risk Management Strategy in the International Field Study Program of the Master?s Program MPI FITK UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta in 2023.
This research is qualitative with an Educational Management Science approach. Data collection is done by interview and documentation techniques, while data validity testing is through source triangulation and technique triangulation. Data analysis uses data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion or verification.
The research results show that: 1) The International Field Study (IFS) Program of the Master?s Program MPI FITK UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is implemented by applying management functions that conceptually have elements of the POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) management function theory that are measurable and systematic; (2) Risky conditions that occur arise from external sources (immigration) and internal (participant and supervisor conditions); (3) The Risk Management Strategy implemented consists of risk identification, risk evaluation and measurement, and risk management. Continuous evaluation and improvement become the basis that this program needs to be optimized as an effort to know the risky conditions in real field. So that efforts to handle emerging problems can be handled effectively and efficiently.
