"The synthetic analytic structural method (SAS) is one of the learning methods that can be used to improve students ' reading skills by teaching students to understand the meaning of words in certain contexts and associate them with personal experiences or emotions. This study aims to determine the implementation of the use and know the results of the implementation of the synthetic analytical structural method (SAS) on the reading ability of slow learner students in Grade IV in SD Negeri Brengosan I.\r\nThis study uses the type of single subject research (SSR) or research with a single subject that is included in the experimental research, using the A-B-a design that is described into baseline Phase - 1, intervention phase, and baseline Phase - 2. Subjects in this study were students with slow learner barriers that have low ability to read and recognize letters, in the fourth grade of SD Negeri Brengosan I. Data collection was carried out using reading test instruments. In addition, the interview and observation instruments that are supporting data in this study consisting of principals, classroom teachers, special assistant teachers, and slow learner students. Data analysis using in-condition analysis and Inter-condition analysis. Presentation of research results using graphs and tables.\r\nThe results of this study that the implementation of the SAS method in improving reading skills that includes four aspects, namely: 1) Recognize and read letters, 2) reading syllables, 3) reading a series of syllables, and 4) reading words or simple sentences. The SAS method is easily understood by students because this method starts with the smallest language unit because it can be spoken in one breath, because it is also assisted by supporting media, namely picture blocks. The results of the study on the ability to read the beginning during the intervention phase showed an increase in student ability which is evidenced by the increase in the average score in each reading session of the subject. Subjects had an average score that increased from 30 in baseline condition 1 (A) to 60 in the intervention phase (B) and 76.6 in baseline Phase 2 (a’).
