Marriage is a sacred, grand and monumental event for every couple. More than just following religious rituals and ancestral traditions, traditional Javanese weddings are a symbol of life accompanied by cultural values passed down from generation to generation. Dolopo is one of the sub-districts in the southern part of Madiun Regency which has a wealth of traditions that are still developing, one of which is the amaliyah wedak ripih. This tradition contains symbolic meaning and is believed to be a medium to wish for smoothness and happiness for the bride and groom and their families. Amaliyah wedak ripih reflects the combination of Islam and Javanese culture. Symbolic elements such as offerings and traditional ceremonies show the influence of Javanese culture, while the prayers and hopes contained therein reflect Islamic values. Line research uses qualitative descriptive methods with data from interviews with several sources that researchers have selected in Dolopo, directly going into the field through observation, documentation of a series of events and amaliyah equipment, and library research as support. The theory used is Victor Turner's ritual theory. The researcher used this theory to see the problem of inheriting the symbolic meaning of amaliyah wedak ripih in Dolopo Madiun, East Java from Turner's perspective on ritual, using the classification that Turner formulated and its relevance to the ritual being studied. The results of research on amaliyah wedak ripih are that there is no conflict between Islam and amaliyah wedak ripih, because amaliyah wedak ripih is a practice and customary law of society that does not conflict with Islamic values. Amaliyah wedak ripih is part of the lifestyle of the Dolopo community and continues to be preserved. This shows the importance of tradition in maintaining community identity and culture. The element of symbolic meaning in this tradition is a necessary thing and is believed to be a medium to wish for smoothness and happiness for the prospective bride and groom and their families. This tradition, with symbolic elements such as offerings and traditional ceremonies, has become part of the life pattern of the Dolopo people and continues to be preserved. date: 2024-03-04 date_type: published pages: 112 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS USHULUDDIN, STUDI AGAMA DAN PEMIKIRAN ISLAM thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Safira Ahda Fadlina, NIM.: 20105040025 (2024) PEWARISAN MAKNA SIMBOLIK WEDAK RIPIHlDALAM TRADISI PERNIKAHAN DI DOLOPO MADIUN JAWA TIMUR.
