%T PERAN KOMUNITAS LOKAL DALAM KONSERVASI PENYU:  STUDI DI DESA MASARAN, KECAMATAN MUNJUNGAN, KABUPATEN TRENGGALEK, JAWA TIMUR
%X Humans as creatures that depend on nature have a big role in maintaining and preserving nature. This needs to be done because some existing phenomena show an imbalance between the utilization of nature and the maintenance of nature, resulting in an imbalance between the two that can harm living things and existing ecosystems. Therefore, there is a need for empowerment activities or programs that can raise awareness regarding the importance of ecosystem balance for the survival of every creature. In this case, there is an action from the Supervisory Community Group (POKMASWAS) with a conservation program to protect one of the biodiversity that has an important role in the marine ecosystem, namely sea turtles.
This research is a field research with a qualitative-descriptive research method. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through a process of data reduction, data presentation and then conclusion drawing.
The results of the study are that POKMASWAS has shown the role and results of the role in community empowerment through sea turtle conservation, namely facilitating roles such as utilizing skills and resources by organizing mangrove planting activities, social animation by holding routine activities to clean up conservation sites; educational roles such as providing information through providing insight with direct and indirect approaches; representation roles such as building cooperation through good relationships established with related parties. The results of the role that occur are increased knowledge, increased concern and development in conservation.
