N2  - Forests play a crucial role in maintaining human well-being. However, every year, Indonesia's forests decrease by up to 104 thousand hectares. The degradation of forests poses a significant threat to various forms of life inhabiting them. While forest preservation efforts have largely been undertaken by the government, local communities have great potential to be involved in forest conservation. One such community-based forest conservation movement is carried out by the Bukit Petarangan Community in Batur Village, Banjarnegara. This research aims to explore the methods of forest conservation movements and the impacts of these movements on the environmental conditions and the local community's awareness of the importance of forest preservation.
The research method used is qualitative descriptive. The theoretical framework used is the theory of social movements and the impact of social movement changes on forest conservation. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, documentation, and data analysis using triangulation.
The research results indicate that the method of forest conservation carried out by the Bukit Petarangan Community (KBP) is a new social movement. This is evident from the form or method of the movement used by KBP, which prioritizes social change over economic change. The methods used include conservation actions, social media actions, and lobbying. The impact of the movement carried out by KBP is the creation of a change in attitude, thought, and behavior among the community. This means that the evaluative statements about the activity object and the perspective on something seen later give rise to a change in behavior from initially not being concerned to becoming concerned and even encouraging other community members to join in forest conservation. The impact of this change is categorized according to social change theory as both reformative and transformative change.
