Then in Yogyakarta there is a community called Komunitas Sekolah Marjinal (KSM). KSM specifically focuses on providing free access to education, health, and advocacy services to marginalized communities. This research aims to find out the urgency of education for marginalized communities and the management strategies used by KSM in improving education for marginalized communities. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants in this study were four people. Data analysis used data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validation uses source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results of this study show that the urgency of education for marginalized communities is because education is the right of all people, education is a fundamental need, and education can be a bridge to improve living standards. Currently the condition of awareness of education for marginalized communities in the Sleman area, especially the Babarsari, Trini, and Lempongsari areas is at the level of critical awareness, because the majority have realized the importance of education and have tried to get education either through KSM or formal schools. Strategic management used is by scanning the environment with SWOT analysis, namely, Strengths; KSM has highly committed members, KSM has an extensive social network, and there is support from external parties. Weaknesses; KSM’s experience financial and infrastructure limitations, Opportunities; KSM’s have the opportunity to establish a network of partners and other parties to obtain financial and infrastructure support. Threats; local government policies are less supportive of KSM in undergoing advocacy service programs. Furthermore, strategy formulation by setting the vision and mission, goals and strategies used; bringing informal education to fully support their children to go to formal schools, teaching basic materials, and determining the needs of students.
