This research discusses the actions of people who still practice the prohibition of sara urang marriage, this custom prohibits marriage between fellow pedekok villagers. The marriage ban applies to all villagers, even those from outside the Gayo tribe. The community still believes that violating this customary rule has an unfavorable impact on the perpetrator, such as customary sanctions in the form of mugeleh koro (cutting buffalo), parak and jeret naru. On the other hand, there are also those who disagree with the customary rules prohibiting sara urang marriages. This research seeks to answer the main questions: why the Gayo community prohibits sara urang marriage, what are the motives for social action in the prohibition of sara urang marriage, and how the prohibition of sara urang marriage in Pedekok Village, Pegasing Subdistrict, Central Aceh Regency from the perspective of sadduz dzari’ah. This type of research is field research using a sociology-normative approach. This research is processed using Max Weber's social action theory which consists of instrumental rational action, value rational action, effective action and traditional action. Then this research also uses the theory of sadduz dzari’ah by Ibn Qayim. The community carries out the custom of prohibiting sara urang marriage based on considerations and objectives to maintain the kinship system and maintain Islamic law in social relations in the community and maintain the bad risks that might occur, this is included in instrumental rational action. This also includes rational value actions, namely all people agree and still preserve the custom of prohibiting sara urang marriage because they want to get wisdom and blessings. For those who do not agree with the prohibition of sara urang marriage, they still follow the agreed customary rules because there is a sense of empathy so that this is included in effective action. The people of Pedekok Village still practice the customary prohibition of sara urang marriage as a form of traditional action, namely to preserve the customs and culture of their ancestors and previous ancestors. The prohibition of sara urang marriage in the perspective of sadduz dzari’ah falls into an act that is basically permitted, but sometimes it can cause damage (mafsadah).
