N2  - Information security is a critical concern for organizations worldwide, including educational institutions such as Pondok Pesantren, which often lack the resources and expertise to implement robust security measures. The increasing reliance on information technology in these institutions has heightened their vulnerability to security breaches, making it imperative to evaluate and enhance their information security systems. This research aims to evaluate the information security systems of Pondok Pesantren in Jombang Regency using the KAMI Index and COBIT 5 frameworks. The objectives of this research are: (1) To determine the information technology security system using the KAMI Index and COBIT 5 in Pondok Pesantren in Jombang Regency; and (2) To determine the results of the evaluation of the information technology security system using the KAMI Index and COBIT 5 in Pondok Pesantren in Jombang Regency.
The research methods used include literature review and field study. The initial stage involves collecting relevant literature on the research problem, including information security theories, KAMI Index methods, and the COBIT 5 Framework, particularly the DSS (Deliver, Service, Support) Domain from DSS01 to DSS06. This research focuses on evaluating information technology governance using the KAMI Index and COBIT 5 Framework in Pondok Pesantren in Jombang Regency. The research population consists of 203 Pondok Pesantren in Jombang Regency, with a sample of 10% of the population, amounting to 20 Pondok Pesantren, selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through field studies, questionnaire distribution, photo documentation, and filling out respondent identity sheets.
The research results show that in the capability level analysis using the COBIT 5 Domain, the average Pondok Pesantren is at Level 2 in various domains, such as DSS01 Manage Operations, DSS02 Manage Service Requests and Incidents, DSS03 Manage Problems, DSS04 Manage Continuity, DSS05 Manage Security Services, and DSS06 Manage Business Process Controls. This low capability level indicates that although basic procedures have been implemented, there is still much room for improvement in various aspects of IT management and operations. Evaluation using the KAMI Index reveals significant score variations among the Pondok Pesantren. Some Pesantren exhibit significant gaps in information governance, necessitating policy reforms and improvements in governance frameworks. Risk management scores vary, with some entities failing to meet minimum standards, highlighting the critical need for better risk assessment and mitigation strategies. Information security framework evaluations also show that many entities do not achieve the required maturity levels, emphasizing the importance of stronger security protocols and consistent enforcement. In asset management, there is a wide range in practice effectiveness, with lower-scoring Pesantren needing to improve their asset management processes. Technology management scores also vary, indicating the need for improvements to achieve higher maturity levels and better IT management.
