abstract: Penelitian ini berjudul Syakhsiyah Al Qisah Al Qasirah Thaif az-Zifaf al-Hazin Li Al Mahmodi wa Ibtisamah Sakhirah Li asy Syaikh (Dirasah Tahliliyah Nafsiyah Li Sigmund Freud), bertujuan untuk menjelaskan kepribadian tokoh dalam kedua cerpen bersandarkan Teori Kepribadian Sigmund Freud yang mencakup Self Defense Mechanism dan Id, Ego, Superego. Penulis akan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif teknik baca catat, dimana objek penelitian berupa teks.
Hasil yang penulis temukan dalam kedua cerpen Thaif az-Zifaf al-Hazin dan Ibtisamah Sakhirah adalah kompleksitas cerita dibuat menarik dengan berbagai macam jenis pergejolakan masalah serta bentuk Self Defense Mechanism yang penulis temui diantaranya rasionalisasi, denial, sublimasi serta Id, Ego dan Superego masing-masing tokoh yang saling berkesinambungan satu sama lain.
