        abstract = {The purpose of this study was to determine the reading culture of coastal communities in Karanggadung Village, Petanahan District, Kebumen Regency. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. Data collection methods used in this research are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. . The result of this study is a SWOT analysis of the reading culture of coastal communities in Karanggadung village, namely, strengths: Community awareness of the importance of reading, TPA (Qur'an Education Park), nderes (reading the Qur'an), Yasinan, Tahlilan, Parasan, Reading the Bible, the existence of a school library in Karanggadung village. Weaknesses: laziness to read, busyness, lack of reading material. Opportunities: the potential for cooperation with related agencies, the existence of Law No. 43 of 2007 concerning Libraries Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs and Regional Autonomy Number 3 of 2001 Village/Village Libraries, the rapid development of information technology Threats: technological developments make people reluctant to read, the distance to the center of reading materials is quite far.}
