The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method, the purpose of which is to explain and answer the application and role of the reading corner program in increasing students' interest in reading at SMA Negeri 1 Sedayu Bantul. Data collection techniques are carried out by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. Test the validity using triangulation and extending the observations. Analysis of research data using descriptive qualitative using data reduction, data presentation, and draw conclusions. The results of the research on the role of the reading corner program as an effort to increase students' interest in reading at SMA Negeri 1 Sedayu Bantul are 1) Implementation of the reading corner at SMA Negeri 1 Sedayu Bantul a) The background of the reading corner program at SMA Negeri 1 Sedayu Bantul is that the services in the library are not optimal. due to the existence of libraries, library area, and students' interest in reading. In addition, a reading corner program was established to increase students' reading interest. Sedayu 1 Public High School has also not only made a class reading corner, there is also a reading corner in the school environment in the form of OASE and outside of school such as at the puskesmas, sub-district office, and sub-district office which started since school accreditation, namely in 2019, c) Implementation of a reading corner in SMA Negeri 1 Sedayu Bantul has several obstacles, namely the arrangement of books that are not optimal, a culture of literacy that is lacking, and collections that are not updated regularly, d) So that a solution is obtained, namely making SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), habituating literacy culture, and updating collections periodically. 2) The role of the reading corner at SMA Negeri 1 Sedayu is a) meeting the information needs of students through the reading corner b) providing hands-on experience through practice, and c) helping to increase student creativity.
