N2 - Perceived usability of software application plays a crucial role in determining the effectiveness and efficiency of user interactions, directly impacting user engagement and satisfaction. WhatsApp, as one of the most popular instant messaging applications, requires a comprehensive evaluation of its perceived usability to ensure an optimal user experience. This quantitative study aims to evaluate and analyze the level of perceived usability of the WhatsApp application using the Computer System Usability Questionnaire (CSUQ) instrument.
Data collection was conducted from February 22 to March 19, 2024, involving 3,250 WhatsApp users in Indonesia. The data was analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, and descriptive and inferential statistics. Validity testing was performed using the KMO value, while reliability was measured with Cronbach's Alpha. The results showed that the CSUQ instrument is valid and reliable for measuring WhatsApp's perceived usability, with a KMO value of 0.962 and a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.949, indicating excellent instrument consistency. Category analysis revealed that users "Strongly Agree" that WhatsApp has very high system usefulness (median 2), excellent information quality (median 2), very adequate interface quality (median 2), and very high overall satisfaction (median 2). Since the data distribution is not normal, the median was used as a measure of central tendency to provide a more accurate picture of user perception.
This study provides important quantitative insights into the WhatsApp user experience, which can be used to improve the application's usability. The results of this study are expected to help other application developers adopt best practices in user-centered design, thereby enhancing overall user satisfaction and engagement
