The high amount of Dui Menre? given has so many impacts, especially on the implementation of marriage. However, the community still maintains and applies the Dui Menre? tradition. This study aims to analyze the reasons why people still maintain and apply the Dui Menre?' tradition. The problems in this study are: Why do Bugis people in Pinrang Regency still apply and maintain the Dui Menre? tradition until now? The research method used is field research using a sociological approach, namely using social construction theory as an analysis knife. This research is descriptive analytic, which is to provide a systematic description and analysis related to the understanding and reasons of the Bugis community in Pinrang Regency. The data collection method is through interviews and questionnaires. Interviews were conducted with 3 (three) informants who have the status of Bugis traditional leaders and questionnaires were conducted by distributing questions through Google Form with a total of 80 respondents from the Bugis community in Pinrang Regency. The data analysis uses qualitative analysis with inductive method, namely data obtained through the field then formulated into a general conclusion to answer the problem. The results showed that the reason the community still maintains the Dui Menre? tradition is considered by the community as something that must be obeyed and maintained. This understanding is continuously maintained through interactions and actions that continuously occur so that it becomes part of their social reality which is formed through the internalization process that all people do and justify the current meaning and apply it, Furthermore, through the objectivation process, it becomes a habit that gives rise to the institutionalization that the Dui Menre tradition is a mandatory thing that must exist in Bugis marriages and there is a sanction if it does not apply or give a nominal amount that does not match the social strata of the female party, so that through the process of externalization, this gives rise to an understanding that the nominal amount of Dui Menre? adjusts to the times such as the existence of social strata and nominal limits making people understand the meaning of respect seen by the nominal given.
