"The research departs from the problem of the high nominal Dui Menre’ tradition that\r\napplies in the Bugis Pinrang Tribe today. The high amount of Dui Menre’ given has\r\nso many impacts, especially on the implementation of marriage. However, the\r\ncommunity still maintains and applies the Dui Menre’ tradition. This study aims to\r\nanalyze the reasons why people still maintain and apply the Dui Menre’' tradition.\r\nThe problems in this study are: Why do Bugis people in Pinrang Regency still apply\r\nand maintain the Dui Menre’ tradition until now?\r\nThe research method used is field research using a sociological approach, namely\r\nusing social construction theory as an analysis knife. This research is descriptive\r\nanalytic, which is to provide a systematic description and analysis related to the\r\nunderstanding and reasons of the Bugis community in Pinrang Regency. The data\r\ncollection method is through interviews and questionnaires. Interviews were\r\nconducted with 3 (three) informants who have the status of Bugis traditional leaders\r\nand questionnaires were conducted by distributing questions through Google Form\r\nwith a total of 80 respondents from the Bugis community in Pinrang Regency. The\r\ndata analysis uses qualitative analysis with inductive method, namely data obtained\r\nthrough the field then formulated into a general conclusion to answer the problem.\r\nThe results showed that the reason the community still maintains the Dui Menre’\r\ntradition is considered by the community as something that must be obeyed and\r\nmaintained. This understanding is continuously maintained through interactions and\r\nactions that continuously occur so that it becomes part of their social reality which is\r\nformed through the internalization process that all people do and justify the current\r\nmeaning and apply it, Furthermore, through the objectivation process, it becomes a\r\nhabit that gives rise to the institutionalization that the Dui Menre tradition is a\r\nmandatory thing that must exist in Bugis marriages and there is a sanction if it does\r\nnot apply or give a nominal amount that does not match the social strata of the female\r\nparty, so that through the process of externalization, this gives rise to an\r\nunderstanding that the nominal amount of Dui Menre’ adjusts to the times such as\r\nthe existence of social strata and nominal limits making people understand the\r\nmeaning of respect seen by the nominal given.
