description: Citizen journalism emerged as a response to public dissatisfaction with mainstream media, which provided a platform for independent expression and information sharing. However, the content restrictions and information sorting applied to the Instagram account @batang.update contradict the main goals of citizen journalism, which should prioritize freedom and independence. Therefore, effective communication management is needed to ensure that the Instagram account @batang.update can become a truly informative and objective citizen journalism platform. This research uses a qualitative approach and communication management theory to analyze how the communication management implemented influences the presentation and reception of content by followers of the account. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The research shows that communication management on the Instagram account @batang.update is effective in making it an informative citizen journalism platform, including planning, organizing, implementing and controlling. However, content was found that caused complaints from followers. This account also contains content sorting and restrictions that can reduce the diversity of opinions and information. @batang.update must prioritize the truth of the news over the speed of presentation. Apart from that, it is also important to pay attention to sponsorship and endorsement practices so as not to damage followers' trust in the credibility of the information presented. damage followers' trust in the credibility of the information presented.
