The disruption can hinder the coach from giving instructions and commands to the athletes, resulting in a decrease in the athletes' motivation to perform. The essence of good interpersonal communication is the right way to enhance athletes' motivation to achieve. The purpose of this research is to analyze the essence of interpersonal communication between coaches and athletes in enhancing the performance motivation of athletes at the Mutiara Persada Fencing Club and Srikandi Privat Class in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with research subjects from the Mutiara Persada Fencing Club and Srikandi Privat Class in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The data collection methods used in this research are interviews, observations, and documentation. The main topic of this research is conducted by coaches and athletes in the sport of fencing. The results of this study indicate that coaches enhance athletes' achievement motivation through the essence of good interpersonal communication, which includes components of communication, communication context, honesty in communication, empathetic communication, listening with the heart, active participation in message exchange, and verbal and nonverbal communication linked to aspects of achievement motivation such as creativity, outcome measurement and feedback, personal responsibility, task selection, and success orientation. The aspects of achievement motivation that coaches most frequently implement with athletes in this study are primarily focused on outcome measurement and feedback, personal responsibility, and success orientation. %Z Pembimbing: Achmad Zuhri, M.I.Kom.
