N2  - Problem Based Learning is a student-centered approach, where students are given the freedom to explore problems, formulate hypotheses, collect data, and conclude solutions. The PBL approach requires students to develop their metacognitive and cognitive skills. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on metacognition and student learning outcomes in physics lessons for class XI SMA/MA, and to determine the extent of the influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on metacognition and student learning outcomes in physics lessons for class XI SMA/MA. This study uses a quantitative research method with a Pre-Experimental Design research type with a One Group PreTest-PostTest Design design. The population in the study were 18 students of class XI MIPA in the 2023/2024 academic year at MA Nurul Ummah Kotagede. This study uses the Non-Probability Sampling technique so that the samples taken were all students from the population of class XI MIPA. The results of this study indicate that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning learning model on students' metacognition in the Mechanical Wave material of class XI MIPA at MA Nurul Ummah Kotagede, as indicated by the results of the t-test obtained a significance value of 0.001 which means less than � 0.05, thus it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of learning with the Problem Based Learning model on increasing the metacognition of class XI MIPA students and the results of the descriptive analysis obtained the average value of the pretest of students = 27.89 and the posttest = 33.89. So that there is an increase in the value of students' metacognitive skills after receiving learning with the Problem Based Learning model. There is an influence of the Problem Based Learning learning model on student learning outcomes in the Mechanical Wave material for class XI MIPA at MA Nurul Ummah Kotagede, as shown by the results of the t-test obtained a significance value of 0.000 which means it is smaller than � 0.05, thus it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of learning with the Problem Based Learning model on improving the learning outcomes of class XI MIPA students and the results of the descriptive analysis obtained the average value of the pretest of students = 41.67 and the posttest = 65.00. So that there is an increase in the value of student learning outcomes after receiving learning with the Problem Based Learning model.
