N2  - This research focuses on the trends in the formation of the Dero dance community and adolescent self-determination. Its aim is to analyze the transformation in Dero culture and its implications for the psychological development and self-determination of adolescents. The Dero dance, as a traditional cultural heritage now widely favored by teenagers in Bunta, serves not only as entertainment but also impacts youth development. This study uses qualitative methods with descriptive analysis techniques. Data collection techniques include non-participant observation of the Dero dance community, in-depth interviews with teenagers who are members of the Dero community, documentation of the community's Facebook group, YouTube, and activities at Dero dance locations. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing models. The results of this study indicate a cultural transformation in the Dero dance, which initially was traditional and then experienced modernization. With a modern dance approach and modern music, Dero dance has become very popular among teenagers. These changes impact psychological development, namely cognitive and social development, and affect the self-determination of adolescents involved in the Dero dance community. This impact can be seen in changes in the aspects of autonomy, competence, and relatedness. These findings provide insights for stakeholders, such as families, educators, and the community, in supporting the development and strengthening of adolescent self-determination within the Dero dance community.
