Body dissatisfaction can arise due to various factors, one of the main factors is excess body weight experienced by students. This research aims to determine the factors that cause body dissatisfaction in Yogyakarta students who are overweight and obese. This research uses qualitative research methods using direct interviews. The research subjects were ten Yogyakarta students who were overweight, consisting of seven Yogyakarta students and 3 Yogyakarta female students. In determining research subjects, the researcher used the snowball technique, namely a sampling method in qualitative research, where participants are initially recruited by the researcher in small numbers, and then these participants direct the researcher to other participants who are considered relevant or have the desired characteristics for the research. This process continues like a rolling snowball, with each new participant directing the researcher to the next participant as a data source. Data analysis was carried out using Miles and Huberman's interactive approach, which involves three main steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification/drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that body dissatisfaction in Yogyakarta students shows a high scale. Yogyakarta students experience body dissatisfaction due to excess weight and obesity, apart from being influenced by social media, social comparisons and unhealthy eating patterns. This has an impact on students' long-term psychological well-being problems. such as stress, frustration, anxiety, lack of self-confidence, closing oneself from the surrounding environment. These ten Yogyakarta student subjects have made various efforts to reduce the body dissatisfaction scale and control their excess weight for psychological well-being and physical health. date: 2024-06-24 date_type: published pages: 222 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: PASCASARJANA thesis_type: masters thesis_name: other citation: Bella Disa Novita, NIM.: 22200011101 (2024) BODY DISSATISFACTION PADA MAHASISWA YANG MENGALAMI BERAT BADAN BERLEBIH DI YOGYAKARTA.
