N2  - The development of information and communication technology in the era of modernization plays a very important role in people's lives, providing convenience in daily activities. However, this development also opens up opportunities for various unlawful acts or digital crimes, which are called cybercrimes. One of the cybercrimes that still frequently occurs is cyber fraud, especially in the jurisdiction of the Yogyakarta Special Regional Police. This research will discuss the response efforts carried out by the Yogyakarta Special Regional Police against cyber fraud crimes, as well as the obstacles faced in the law enforcement process against these crimes.
The type of research used in preparing this thesis is field research (field research) which is descriptive analysis with an empirical juridical research approach by focusing on field research which examines various legal regulations which then combines them with facts that occur in efforts to overcome criminal acts carried out by the Yogyakarta Special Region Police regarding criminal acts of fraud based on information and communication technology.
The results of this research are that in carrying out efforts to overcome criminal acts of fraud based on information and communication technology, the Yogyakarta Special Region Police carried out preventive efforts in the form of campaigns and appeals through various social media as well as conducting outreach in several sub-districts and universities in the Yogyakarta Special Region. Then, in a repressive manner, the Yogyakarta Special Region Police carried out investigations and investigations if there were reports, as well as collaborating with related institutions such as banks, Internet Service Providers (ISP) and online buying and selling platforms to assist the inquiry and investigation process. The obstacles faced lie in law enforcement factors, investigators experiencing a lack of competent members or personnel in the field of information and communication and facilities and infrastructure factors, namely limited access to tracking perpetrators
