Islamic teachings stipulate that the iddah period for a widow is four months and ten days. However, in contemporary times, many women are employed outside the home to support their families. The implementation of iddah would inevitably prevent these women from working and earning an income, which is the primary issue this study aims to address. Various opinions exist regarding this matter. Notably, Imam Taqiyuddin Al-Hisni and Imam Shamsuddin Al-Sharkhasi have presented their perspectives. This research employs a library-based approach, utilizing literature such as books, journals, dictionaries, and other relevant works. The study adopts a descriptive-comparative methodology, outlining the legal rulings concerning a working woman's right to leave the house during iddah according to both Imams and then comparing their views. Additionally, the research employs a usul fiqh approach to analyze the opinions of Imam Taqiyuddin Al-Hisni and Imam Shamsuddin Al-Sharkhasi. The findings of this study reveal that Imam Taqiyuddin focuses on delineating the specific activities prohibited for a woman during iddah. In contrast, Imam Shamsuddin Al-Sharkhasi, as stated in his book Al-Mabsut, permits a widow to leave the house during the day to attend to her needs, provided she does not stay in places other than her residence. Considering the Indonesian context, Imam Shamsuddin's opinion is deemed more beneficial. This is because if basic necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter are not met, the woman's physical and mental well-being would be compromised. date: 2024-08-22 date_type: published pages: 117 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS SYARI'AH DAN HUKUM thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Achdri Seffi'atuddin, NIM.: 20103060021 (2024) HUKUM KELUAR RUMAH BAGI WANITA BEKERJA KETIKA MASA IDDAH (STUDI KOMPARATIF MENURUT IMAM TAQIYUDDIN AL HISNI DAN IMAM SYAMSUDDIN AS SARKHASI).
