N2  - Many problems often occur to students during their education, one of which is loneliness. Loneliness is quite common and can affect students during their education, so there are social demands and good adaptation for overseas students. Therefore, self-compassion can be one of the factors that can reduce the loneliness felt by students during migration. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of self-compassion with loneliness that occurs in overseas students. Using a correlational quantitative research design, this study chose overseas students who came from outside the island of Java who were studying in Yogyakarta with 82 people who became research subjects. The research sampling used purposive sampling technique, with the criteria that are active students, studying at Yoyakarta college, who come from outside the island of Java. The data collection technique in this study used the UCLA (University of California Los Angeles) Loneliness Scale Version 3 and the Self-compassion Scale (SCS), both of which were obtained from previous research. In this study, it was found that the new reliability value for the loneliness scale was 0.862, while the self-compassion scale had a reliability of 0.839. Data analysis using simple regression techniques with the results of the study showed 59% of the relative influence of self-compassion on loneliness, while the remaining 41% was influenced by other factors. This shows a negative relationship between self-compassion and loneliness. This means that the higher the self-compassion possessed by overseas students, the lower the level of loneliness felt.
