This is a result of the patriarchal cultural construction adopted by society, thus making the social roles between men and women unequal and making injustice between them. This research wants to know the meaning of gender discrimination contained in the movie Yuni. The methodology used in this research is qualitative research by applying Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis which has three levels of meaning, namely denotation, connotation, and myth. The results of this study show that there are still female characters in Yuni who experience gender injustice in the form of marginalization, subordination, stereotyping, violence, and double burden. Gender injustice still occurs because there is still a patriarchal culture and thinking adopted by the people in their environment.
