This qualitative study involves three teachers of Islamic Religious Education, utilizing field research and case study techniques. The research location is SMA N 10 Padang, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted during the research process and conclusions were drawn using Miles and Huberman's technique. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation, technical triangulation, and time triangulation. The main theoretical framework used is Krathwohl’s Internalization theory, supplemented by the 18-character values developed by Zubaedi. The findings of this research address the first problem by identifying three changes in customary adages: (1) “Adat Nan Ampek” (four customs), which asserts that custom holds the highest authority and influences every aspect of life; (2) “Adat Basandi Syarak, Syarak Basandi Adat,” which signifies the integration of indigenous and Islamic values following the introduction of Islam to Minangkabau; and (3) “Custom Basandi Syarak, Syarak Basandi Kitabullah,” where Islamic law begins to dominate and redefine customs. The essence of the Minangkabau traditional motto in character building includes strengthening Islamic beliefs and worship, promoting humanity and community, fostering nationalism, leadership, and deliberation, enhancing intelligence and wisdom, encouraging economic productivity, and maintaining integrity and commitment. The implementation of the traditional motto “Adat Basandi Syarak, Syarak Basandi Kitabullah” into Islamic religious education at SMA N 10 Padang is evident in the curriculum, teaching module design, learning materials, and evaluation processes. The internalization of ABS-SBK (Adat Basandi Syarak, Syarak Basandi Kitabullah) and the development of PROPELA (Pancasila Student Profile) character values are integrated into school activities. The character values fostered at SMA N 10 Padang include (1) faith and devotion to God Almighty with noble character, (2) global diversity, (3) independence, (4) cooperation, and (5) critical and creative reasoning. These values are developed through various programs and activities within the school environment. However, tolerance and environmental care are character values that need further enhancement. The internalization of ABS-SBK into Islamic Religious Education aims to build the Pancasila student profile at SMA N 10 Padang by enhancing teacher professionalism through training, improving Minangkabau traditional literacy facilities, and integrating Minangkabau cultural values into the learning process. %Z Promotor: Promotor I Prof. Dr. H.
