N2  - This research aims to explore and analyze the role of the principal's leadership management in efforts to improve the quality of education at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Wates. Considering the importance of the principal's role in determining the direction and quality of education, this study focuses on various aspects of leadership implemented, including leadership style, resource management, curriculum development, and stakeholder engagement.
The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis related to school policies and programs. Research participants consisted of the principal, vice-principal, teachers, administrative staff, students, and parents.
The findings show that the principal at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Wates applies a transformational and participative leadership style, successfully creating a collaborative and innovative school environment. The leadership exhibited also focuses on strengthening industry- and technology-based curricula, aligned with the needs of the workforce. Additionally, the principal actively involves the school committee, parents, and industry in strategic decision-making and the implementation of school development programs.
The improvement in educational quality at this school is evident from various indicators, such as the enhancement of student academic performance, successful partnerships with industry, and the increase in professional competencies of teachers. These findings indicate that the principal's leadership management plays a crucial role in achieving the school's vision and mission, ultimately having a positive impact on improving the quality of education.
This study recommends further development in leadership training for principals and related stakeholders, as well as strengthening collaboration between the school and external parties to support the achievement of sustainable educational quality.
