"From the 18th century to the early 21st century, Saudi Arabia\r\nhas been recognized for its strong adherence to religious principles,\r\nparticularly those of the Wahhabi sect. The country’s constitution is\r\nbased on the Al-Qur’an and Sunnah, contributing to its reputation as a\r\nrigid and conservative state among other Muslim nations. This\r\nunderstanding emphasizes strict adherence to Wahhabism,\r\nsignificantly impacting the social and cultural life of Saudi society.\r\nCompared to other populous Islamic countries, the differences in\r\nlifestyle are pronounced. This conservative image has hindered Saudi\r\nArabia’s adaptation to globalization and progress, requiring\r\nconsiderable courage and strength to effect social and cultural\r\nchanges, especially during the era of Muhammad bin Salman.\r\nThis research falls under the category of library research and\r\nemploys qualitative methods with a socio-political approach. The\r\ntheoretical frameworks used include, first, the Theory of Authority\r\nreferencing Plato and Ibn Taimiyah; second, the Theory of\r\nModernization developed by Evsey Domar and Roy Harrod; and third,\r\nthe Theory of Structuration by Antony Giddens, which is used to\r\nanalyze political dynamics in social change.\r\nThe findings of this research show that 2016 marked the\r\nbeginning of sociocultural changes initiated by King Salman bin\r\nAbdul Aziz through his son, Muhammad bin Salman, who was\r\nauthorized to implement the significant vision of transforming Saudi\r\nArabia from a conservative to a modern and dynamic country. This\r\nvision is embodied in Saudi Vision 2030, which has had a profound\r\nimpact on the country’s transformation. One notable change is the shift\r\nin social policy-making, which no longer compromises with religious\r\nideology. This shift has introduced social, political, and religious\r\nchallenges for the Saudi government, which has responded with\r\nmodernization policies across various domains. Examples include\r\nincreased freedoms for women compared to previous eras, economic\r\ndiversification through the development of tourism and entertainment,and enhanced access to education, all contributing to greater\r\nemployment opportunities and income diversification beyond the oil\r\nsector."^^ .
