Muzakky, M.Si. abstract: Solid-liquid extraction was done to determine the presence of Cr, Cu, and Fe metals in river sediment samples collected from around PLTN Muria, a future nuclear power plant, i.e. Kancilan, Balong, Suru, Dombang, and Wareng rivers. Existing heavy metal in waterbody will be precipitated as sediment. Therefore, this research was focused on river sediment analysis. The aims of this research were to know the optimal extraction condition including the concentrations of HF and HNO3, and the extraction time; to know which heavy metal that can be extracted and measure their concentrations; to know the validity of research method used in optimal condition; and to know the ability of HF + HNO3 as solvent in optimal condition compared with HNO3 4N + HCl 0,7N and HCl 0,5N as solvent. Optimation of extraction condition was conducted by using the variations of solvent concentration and extraction time. Solid-liquid extraction using bomb digestion, Parr 4745 type. Quantitative analysis of heavy metal contained in samples was performed using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). In the meantime, analysis of functional groups was performed using Infrared Spectroscopy. Interpretation of infrared spectras showed that silanol and siloksan groups were present in river sediment samples tested. The optimal condition included HF and HNO3 concentrations were 40% and 65%, respectively, and extraction time was 5 hours. Cr, Cu, and Fe metals could be extracted from all samples in various concentrations. The metals concentration for one of this research samples, which was Kancilan river sediment sample, contained 156,832 ppm Cr metal, 55,149 ppm Cu metal, and 25440,000 ppm Fe metal. The method validation of Cr metal for one of metals this research focus, showed that this research method has good accuracy rate as high as 99.492%. Good accuracy was reached when calibration standard method was used with 3.897% in percentage, but not when addition standard method was used, because the percentage was more than 5% (which is 10.916%). Based on the metals concentration determination, HF 40% + HNO3 65% was the best solvent for Cr and Fe metal extraction, meanwhile HNO3 4N + HCl 0,7N was the best solvent for Cu metal extraction date: 2009-11-06 date_type: published pages: 116 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS SAINS DAN TEKNOLOGI thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Malawati Riskiah, NIM.: 04630044 (2009) STUDI EKSTRAKSI PADAT-CAIR PADA PENENTUAN LOGAM Cr, Cu, DAN Fe DALAM SAMPEL SEDIMEN SUNGAI DI SEKITAR CALON PLTN MURIA.
