abstract: These article description life of Madura’s society phenomenon, and its relation with carok. Carok means duel to defends oneself honor. Carok and clurit (kind of sikle, often used as weapon) is embedded. They can’t be desperated. This phenomenon since Dutch colonialization. Carok is knight symbol in fighting to keep the honor. Madura’s society is more obidience to informal figure leader called: kyai “reference for venerated scholar, teacher of Islam or “ulama�as Islamic scholar. In fact Carok phenomenon has been seen until now. It indicates that carok is not related with product of somebody ‘s authority and honor but it’s related with cultural aspect. This fact is one of black side of Madura ‘s culture. It’s so far from wiseword like this: rampa maong beringin kroong.� It means calm situation fulfil peacefull like under the banyan tree. This wise word is one of way of life Madura’s society.
